MCU Fanfic Recs

To Safeguard These Things by lbmisscharlie, E (Steve Rogers/Bucky Barnes). Steve and Bucky, before the war and during it. Lots and lots of feelings about art and Italy. Seriously, so much Italian art history. You may also experience feelings about the parallels between the lead-up to the war and where things are at in society right now; I sure did. Supporting appearances by slightly-bent!Howard Stark and super-soldier!Peggy Carter.
NEO: La Montan~a by krycek-asks , M (Steve Rogers/Bucky Barnes). Post-apocalyptic AU, very well-imagined world-building. Bucky Barnes loves science and he loves machines, so when an opening came up as resident engineer in charge of maintaining the all but forgotten optical telescopes high in the snowy mountains of San Pedro Martir in Baja California he jumps at the chance. Nothing but peaceful walks, the occasional puma and his robots observing the stars …. that is, until Steve Rogers shows up and ruins his pozole. Punk.

Scents and Sensibility: The Working Assassin’s Guide to Supersoldier Seduction by silentwalrus1, galwednesday, and skellerbvvt, E (Steve Rogers/Bucky Barnes). Also very well-imagined world-building, though of the Ursula K. LeGuin-like variety. Steve’s just trying to get some kind of life together. Bucky is too, or at least he was until tall, blond and Captain shows up and starts just - being there, all the time. It’s terrible. It’s the worst. He has to do something about it. Lots and lots of descriptions of soft blankets, tasty foods, nice smells, and relaxing body and hair care products. Fruit and vegetable metaphors for, well, other things.

Only Fools Rush In by victoria_p (musesfool), G (Steve Rogers/Bucky Barnes). We accidentally ended up married because both of us are too stubborn to back down from a dare.
Clint Barton and the Adventures in Terror Twin Rearing and Cassie Lang and the Adventures in Befriending Hundred Year Old Super Soldiers by stevergrsno, G (Steve Rogers/Bucky Barnes). Steve and Bucky are de-aged and somehow Clint has to look after them. But they make friends with Cassie, which is exactly as cute as you’d think.
